SAVE THE DATE! SATURDAY, AUGUST 9, 2008 @ VIENNA’S WATERS FIELD

official wiffle ball tournament

"Vienna is proud to host such a worthy event as the Northern Virginia Wiffle Ball World Series to benefit The Brian Bedell 2-Young Foundation. We believe this is a start of a great tradition that the Vienna community will embrace for many years to come!" Vienna Mayor Jane Seeman

On Saturday, August 9, 2008, the nation's finest wiffle® ball squads battle it out for the 13th Annual Northern Virginia Wiffle® Ball World Series (NVWWS) title!  This year’s tournament will be held at the newly refurbished Waters Field in Vienna, VA (Brian Bedell’s hometown youth ball fields). Whether you're playing ball or just a spectator at the park, it's a ballpark experience that you will never forget.

Proceeds from this special charity fundraiser will be used to continue the fight against brain cancer in Brian Bedell's memory. We’re excited to bring the greatest wiffle® tourney in the land back to Brian’s hometown and a donation to Vienna Youth, Inc. will also be made by the foundation in his name.

Special thanks to Coach Mark Meana and Vienna Youth, Inc. for making this event a reality at Waters Field. Here's what Coach Meana had to say about his former player Brian Bedell:

"Brian Bedell was an exceptional player in all sports for Vienna Youth Incorporated (VYI) and represented the best in why kids, all kids, are the foundation for the future. I had the privilege to coach Brian Bedell as a player, know him as a friend, and revered at the unselfish and positive way he approached life and the associated challenges everyone experiences, especially his own! Brian Bedell epitomized what youth sports represents, what Vienna represents...the development of young people to become the leaders of tomorrow! Brian's memory lives on through the 2-Young Foundation and the fight to cure brain cancer. Brian's family and the great army of friends that support this fantastic event that he looked forward to so much need everyone to support this great day of fun, competition, recognition for a great guy, but more importantly, finding a cure so others may live on!"
